You Might Not Be Okay

Even though it’s been days since your auto accident, you still experience headaches or you don't feel like yourself. You may be wondering what’s wrong. What you may not know is that you may have a concussion. After a serious injury, it is critical to receive evaluation and treatment for a concussion. Post-concussion syndrome (PCS) is a significant concern following an auto injury, as symptoms can persist for weeks, months, or even longer. PCS may include headaches, dizziness, cognitive difficulties, and emotional disturbances that impact your quality of life. At South Valley Physical Therapy and Rehab, our certified staff knows how to effectively diagnose and treat a concussion. We work with a world renowned neurologist who uses advanced testing and imaging as needed to help you recover fully.

We tailor our treatment plan to what you need, and what best works for you.  Our goal is to reduce your pain, improve cognitive function, balance and strength. We’ll monitor your progress and address any issues before they become serious concerns. A head injury is serious; no need to just try to “shake it off.”

Concussion Evaluation and Treatment

Physical Therapists, with proper training, can also play a valuable role in the treatment and management of concussions, and neurologists oversee the medical aspects of concussion care.
Number 1

Evaluation and Diagnosis

As we meet with you, we’ll review your medical history, conduct a neurological examination and cognitive assessments to determine the severity of your injury.

Number 2

Recovery Plan

We may need to refer you for more advanced imaging, such as MRI or CT scans, to rule out more severe brain injuries. Based on our findings, we’ll personalize a treatment plan to help you heal appropriately and fully recover.

Number 3

Reintroduction of Activities

You may benefit from our neuro-rehab therapeutic approach to gradually return to activities feel like yourself again. Using a combination of physical, cognitive and occupational therapies, we can restore balance, coordination, strength and improve your memory and motor skills.

Number 4

Continuous Monitoring

Concussion symptoms may evolve or worsen over time. Regular assessments help us track your progress, adjust your treatment, or address any new or persisting issues, so you don’t run the risk of a long-term injury.
